Letter from the Chair of Governors

Welcome to the Governors section of our school website

At our school we are very fortunate to have a skilled and active governing body.  We have 12 governors who are all volunteers and give of their time and expertise freely to support the work of the school.  Many of our governors have jobs and family commitments. We strive to ensure that the children receive the very best education so they can work to achieve their potential and build positive memories for their childhood.

Our governors are appointed through various routes to represent the stakeholders of the school.  They include 3 Parent Governors, 3 Foundation Governors appointed by the Church, the Headteacher, a Staff Governor, a Local Authority Governor and 3 Co-opted Governor appointed by the Governing Body. Governors are appointed for 4 year terms of office.

As governors we work with the headteacher and senior leadership team to provide the strategic leadership and accountability in our school. It is governors who hold the main responsibility for finance and we work with the headteacher to make the tough decisions about balancing resources.  Governors also appoint the head teacher who undertakes the day-to-day management of the school.   Governors have a key role to both support and challenge our headteacher.

We are currently in a partnership with St Luke’s C of E Primary School and share an experienced headteacher Miss Sarah Horsbrough as Executive Headteacher of both our schools. To support our Executive Headteacher, Miss Horsbrough at our school we have a Head of School, Mrs Theresa Booth.
All our Governors work hard with Miss Horsbrough and Mrs Booth and with all our staff to make this a happy school where children can flourish in a caring Christian environment.
We value our school and our close links with St John's the Baptist Church in Clayton. The Church runs the Care Club held on school premises. It provides important care for our children both before and after the school day.

Our relationship with parents, carers and the wider Clayton area are invaluable to us. We are thankful for the Parent, Teachers & Friends Association that support the work of the school.  We are most grateful for the events they organise during the year and the finance they provide to enhance the educational experience for children.

I hope you have found this information helpful but please do contact Mrs Booth if you need any more information about the school.
